Ather Rizta Electric Scooter to Launch in Nepal at NAIMA Mobility Expo 2025

Ather Rizta, a family-friendly electric scooter from Indian electric vehicle maker Ather Energy, is set to launch in Nepal. The official unveiling will take place at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo in August 2025.

1. Introduction to Ather Rizta

Ather Rizta marks a new chapter for Ather Energy, shifting from its high-performance scooters to a more practical, family-oriented electric scooter. After the success of the 450 series, the Rizta has become Ather’s best-selling scooter in India, making up nearly 60% of their total sales. Now, Ather aims to replicate this success in Nepal.

The scooter comes in two main trims – Rizta S and Rizta Z – each offering two battery options: 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh. These variants cater to different user needs with a range of approximately 123 km to 159 km per charge, according to IDC figures.

2. Design and Features

The Rizta features a softer, friendly design compared to the sharper look of earlier models. Its headlight cluster is horizontal, with integrated daytime running lights and turn indicators. The scooter’s wide and long 900 mm seat offers excellent comfort for riders and pillions, along with a practical backrest.

Storage space is generous, with a 34-liter under-seat compartment that can hold a full-face helmet and more, plus a 22-liter front trunk (frunk) for additional storage.

Both trims come with tubeless tires, a disc brake up front, and a drum brake at the rear, coupled with a combined braking system for safety. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and has a ground clearance of 150 mm, suitable for city roads.

3. Performance and Battery

Powered by a 4.3 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, the Rizta produces 5.8 PS power and 22 Nm torque. Its top speed is 80 km/h, ideal for urban commuting.

Charging time varies by battery size and charger type. The smaller 2.9 kWh battery charges to 80% in around 6.5 hours using the portable 350W charger, while the larger 3.7 kWh battery reaches 80% charge in about 4.5 hours with the 700W duo charger.

Ather also offers two riding modes – SmartEco for efficiency and Zip Mode for quicker acceleration – allowing users to choose based on their riding needs.

4. Technology and Safety

The Rizta Z variant features a 7-inch full-color touchscreen infotainment system with smart features like Google Maps, ride statistics, and theft alerts. The S variant comes with a simpler DeepView LCD display but still includes essential navigation and security features.
